Home Health Director of Nursing – AL

The DON coordinates the delivery of quality patient care by assuring the care plans of direct care staff are complete, accurate, and followed. This position is responsible for the performance of and/or oversight of critical patient care activities including scheduling, staffing, intake physician communications, billing, and reimbursement processes and overall compliance. This position may require direct patient care on an as needed basis. The DON serves as the direct supervisor for the nurses and home health aides on their assigned team.


· Provides clinical oversight to direct care staff.

· Coordinates & evaluates the delivery of services from referral to discharge on a daily basis by ensuring appropriate staffing and scheduling in compliance with physician orders and regulatory requirements.

· Reviews all OASIS assessments for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements. Assures that plans of care are congruent with OASIS assessments, physician orders, and are appropriate to meet patient needs.

· Reviews and approves episodic Level of Care projections for all disciplines based on OASIS assessments and the clinical assessment of patient needs.

· Serves as point of contact for all customer service issues. Resolves issues with input from Branch Manager/Director of Professional Services as necessary.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager or Director of Professional Services.

· Participates in data collection for Quality Improvement activities as evidenced by participation in utilization review and meeting attendance logs.

Skills / Requirements


  • AL RN Licensure
  • HH Experience Required
  • Well versed in Medicare
  • 3 Years prior management experience
  • Knowledge of home care regulations and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
